My life as a teenager

My life as a teenager is tough. I feel that I seem to have a lot of problems with my studies and friends. I face difficulty with my studies as I have to study more. Sometimes some of my teachers will tell us to do our homework in the computer. I find it difficult to use it because I only learned how to do it this year. Some people laugh at me because my typing skills are very slow, that's why I dislike to type in front of others and it takes me a long time to finish just an essay!

I feel different from other teenagers because they like to hear many kinds of music and I only hear a few types of music in Chinese and English, so I have nothing much to talk about with other teenagers. I try to hear some of their music even though I don't really like to hear them because my aim is to make friends with them. I like music but in a different way from others. I love to listen to Christian songs because I enjoy worshipping God and I feel very encouraged to live my life in a meaningful way.

I do not have many friends in church but I am thankful that Hui June accepts me as I am. I feel quite lonely whenever she goes home early after the Sunday service. A lot of my church friends have left the church because some of them follow their parents to another state.

I had some close friends when I studied in Union High School but my Malay and Chinese studies were so weak that I have no choice but to transfer to another school. I have to leave my good friends whom I have known for the past two years. Now in my new school in Sri Pelita, I have a few new friends. Although I am uncomforble with some of the boys in this school, I will try my best to fit in and do well in my studies.

I am glad that there are a few teachers who are patient and understanding toward me. I hope that with their help, I will do much better in every way.

My Hobbies

I have many hobbies such as swimming, playing the piano, dancing, reading story books, watching television and many more. Hobbies are fun because they make our lives interesting.

Two of my favourite hobbies are dancing and playing the piano. I started my ballet and piano lessons when I was seven. I had my first ballet lesson at the Shih Chung school hall. It was terribly hot as the hall had no air-conditioner. My ballet shoes became black as charcoal as the hall was very dusty and dirty. Now I am glad that I don't have to stand those uncomfortable conditions anymore as I get to dance at the ballet school which is cool and clean.

My piano teacher's name is Miss Lee. She is very patient and kind. If it was not for her, I would have given up my piano lesson earlier. There were times when I felt very frustrated that I could not play well and my sight reading was very poor. Now I am happy that I can play some classical pieces and I will be sitting for my Grade 5 practical exam.
I had problems in my reading when I was in my primary school. But thanks to my Dad who had read to me since I was one year old, I have improved in my reading skill. I can now read better and enjoy reading adventure stories. I hope I can improve in my reading further.
Swimming is also one of my favourite activities. I used to dislike swimming because I was afraid of water when I was young. I managed to overcome my fear when my swimming instructor taught me how to relax and have fun in the water.
Hobbies make my life more meaningful as they help me to calm down and concentrate on my studies. Thank God for them or else I would be like a zombie in class.

Story about My Childhood

When I take a look at my childhood pictures, I recall the wonderful moments of my childhood. I was raised by my parents. When I was two years old, I had the opportunity to follow my parents to go to America. My father was relocated to Arizona for one an half years of work assignment.

I experienced the four seasons there and I like winter season the best. I remember my father bringing us to Flagstaff, Arizona to see the winter scenery and to play with the snow over there. I enjoyed myself in the snow by building a snowman, throwing snowballs and making snow angels with my parents.

Then, from there we went to the Grand Canyon. The scenery was grand, beautiful and breathtaking. I met some American Indians, the Navajos. My mother bought some bracelets and necklaces from them. I loved the cold weather and the cold wind which blew in my face. What a difference between the hot weather in Malaysia and the pleasant weather in Flagstaff.

Once I went to a peach farm in Arizona. There were many big and juicy peaches grown in the trees so low that I can pluck them with my hands and ate them straight away. I like to eat them so much that I pluck as many as possible and brought a big bag and happily went home.

I was quite an active child as I liked to run and jump a lot. My mother would often take me to the parks to play on the slides and sit on the swings almost every evening. I also loved to play with natural objects such as stones, sands and sticks. one of my favourite things to do was to build sand castles by the beach in Batu Ferringhi. I also remember when I was in Arizona, I loved to watch them skid on it.

My mother used to complain that I only loved to drink fresh milk and eat nothing else. I was not interested in eating bread, eggs, vegetables, and many more when I was young. Bringing me up was not easy as my parents often had to play with me and entertain me because I was the only child at that time and I felt bored easily.

I will always remember my childhood days in America and I hope that one day I will be able to visit Arizona again or to visit my father's friend, Uncle Scott and Auntie Kris in Ohio.
