When I first came to Sri Pelita my first trip in this school was a day trip to Monkey Beach. It was very exciting because my last year of schooling at Union High School didn't really have any day trip to anywhere. I had to wake up very early that day to catch the bus in the morning.
The bus journey wasn't long. It took about forty five minutes to reach Teluk Bahang. We all gathered at the starting point and lined up according to our age group. I saw many other students' and their families join in the family hike. I was a bit sad that my family had no time to join me in the hike because my parents had to bring my brother to his violin class and my sister to her piano class. Nevertheless, my new friends cheered me up during the hike.
When the teacher-in-charge, Mr. Edric, finished his announcement, we all started heading to the beaches. The primary students only had to hike to Muka Head beach and we, the secondary students had to hike further than them. When I hiked to Muka Head with my friends, the journey seemed easy for us. The route was similar to the hike up Bukit Jambul because there were not many areas that were steep and there were many wooden steps that were laid for us to go up the hill.
We reached Muka Head quickly and we were surprised to see a few secondary students and teachers reach there earlier than us. Then, we all hiked together in a group to Monkey Beach. The tracks leadeding to the beach were more challenging than I thought . The journey was quite rocky and we had to climb over some fallen tree trunks including some large roots that extended out to the beach. I was horrified when I almost slipped and fell into some dried bushes. Thank goodness I had a good grip on one of the tree branches.
After that, we finally reached Monkey Beach and I was relieved to have a rest. I then had a picnic with my friends. Some of my friends were playing by the sea and some of us played with some sand on the beach. I dreaded the thought of us hiking back to where we started. I thought we could get on the boats to get back to Teluk Bahang. When we reached Muka Head again, we heard the annoucement for the students' who had brought their families. They would get a small trophy for the Family Hike and gets points for their colour houses.
Finally, we reached our starting point. My legs were aching and I went to a small store to buy a 100 Plus drink. When we were on the bus, I was thinking about the Family Hike and how it did keep me fit and gave everyone a good exercise.
